Commercial names
To apply for a commercial name in Costa Rica, we will require the following:
a) Full name, exact business address, and place of incorporation of the applicant.
b) Name of the commercial establishment (commercial name);
c) List of products or services to be sold or provided at the commercial establishment.
d) A Power of Attorney granted by the applicant duly legalized by a Costa Rican Consul.
e) If the commercial name contains a design, we will require an electronic version of the corresponding design. Such design can be sent by e-mail or attached to the online application herein.
Registration term: The term of protection for commercial names is indefinite, but such protection is tied to the existence of the establishment protected by the name. The definite closing of the establishment or liquidation of the owner implies the lapsing of the commercial name.
Slogans
To apply for a slogan registration in Costa Rica, we will require the following:
a) Full name, exact business address, and place of incorporation of the applicant.
b) Registered trademark that will be used in conjunction with such slogan.
c) Exact composition of the slogan;
d) List of products or services, which the slogan intends to protect. Slogans are not classified so their products or services must be specifically stated.
e) A Power of Attorney granted by the applicant duly legalized by a Costa Rican Consul. (
Registration term: The term of protection for slogans is indefinite, but such protection is tied to the existence of the trademark used in conjunction with the slogan. The lapsing of the trademark implies the lapsing of the slogan registration.
Domain names
To apply for a domain name registration in Costa Rica, at the .CR level, we will require the following:
a) Full name, exact business address, Tax ID number, and place of incorporation of the applicant.
b) Exact composition of the domain name with the suffix .CR at the end;
c) Full name of the Technical Contact for such domain, including his e-mail address, physical address, mailing address, telephone and fax number, company for which he is working.
d) Full name of the Administrative Contact for such domain, including his e-mail address, physical address, mailing address, telephone and fax number, company for which he is working. The Administrative Contact must be a Costa Rican resident. We will be glad to serve as the local contacts upon request.
e) A Power of Attorney granted by the applicant duly legalized by a Costa Rican Consul.
f) IP Address of main server and alternate servers for such domain.
Registration term: The term of registration for domain names is from 1 to 5 years, depending of the fee paid.
Renewals: Domain Names can be renewed for periods of 1 to 5 years, by paying the corresponding fee charged by the Costa Rican Domain Name authority.
