To apply for the registration of an Industrial Drawing or Utility Model in Costa Rica, we will require the following:
a) Full name, exact business address, and place of incorporation of the applicant.
b) Full name, exact business address and nationality of the inventor;
c) Title of the Industrial Drawing or Utility Model;
d) A Power of Attorney granted by the applicant duly legalized by a Costa Rican Consul. One Power of Attorney is enough for every present and future procedure on behalf of the grantor
e) In the case the applicant is not the inventor we will require an assignment document from the inventor to the applicant. Such document must state the complete name, marital status, profession, address, and passport number of the inventor duly legalized by a Costa Rican Consul
f) An electronic file containing graphic or photographic representations of the model or drawing;
g) Indication of the type of goods to which the drawing or model will be applied;
h) Class (es) to which said goods belong, according to the International Classification of Industrial Models and Drawings; and
i) Brief description of drawing or model.
Registration term: The term of registration of a model or drawing is ten (10) years as of the date of registration in Costa Rica.
